CEO of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship Scott Pedder will be visiting Caroline Springs this weekend to promote the upcoming opening round of the Championship Rally Calder set for 1-4 March as part of the Lakeside Live Festival.
The visit is to make residents of Caroline Springs and surrounding areas aware that the opening round of this year’s Bosch ARC will be staged just up the Western Highway at Calder Park in a new and unique format.
The rally will also have its ceremonial start in the Caroline Springs Town Centre on the evening of Thursday 1 March.
It is the first time in more than 30 years that a round of the prestigious Australian Championship has been staged close to Melbourne and the first time a major rally has been run within the confines of a single motor sport venue like Calder Park.
“We are visiting Caroline Springs to make everyone from that region aware of one of the most exciting forms of motor sport entertainment and how they can easily come and be a part of history on 1-4 March,” said Scott Pedder.
“Rally Calder will allow people to see the sport of rallying up close and in safety at one venue without having to drive between spectator points so it is really rally spectating made simple,” said Scott.
“We expect a the huge number of local rally fans to drive the few minutes to Calder to catch Australia’s best drivers tackle the challenging stages
Rally Calder presented by ECB will bring a whole new range of spectators to the sport of rallying and to motor sport and we are billing the weekend as Victoria’s Festival of Speed,” Scott added.
“Rally Calder is going to be a true festival of motor sport, attracting enormous interest across a wide spectrum of fans and ECB is proud to be a part of it,” he said.
Rally Calder presented by ECB will run from March 1-4 hosting the opening round of the 2012 Bosch ARC, the inaugural round of the ECB World’s Best Alloy Bullbars Australian SUV Rally Challenge, as well as a tarmac rally, a massive multi discipline Car Club Challenge, trade displays and a Side by Side Challenge.
The entire event will be run within the boundaries of the Calder Park complex north west of Melbourne allowing spectators to catch all the action within a short walk of the car park.
The Bosch ARC competitors will cover more than 100km of competitive stages over the three days of competition embracing both gravel and tarmac stages with spectacular jumps and a range of challenging conditions including the formidable high banked Thunderdome oval.
Tickets for Rally Calder presented by ECB will go on sale through Foxtix in January with a number of further initiatives and attractions to be announced in coming weeks.
