School Holiday fun across the Shire

With the school holidays just around the corner Melton Shire Council is busily preparing for its popular Huff ‘N’ Puff program and Multi-Sports days for children up to 12 years old.

Melton Shire Council Mayor, Cr Justin Mammarella JP, said Council was committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the community and would continue to offer programs like this to families in the Shire.

“It’s important that we do what we can to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents. We want to showcase the high-quality facilities and activities that are on offer in the community, and hopefully inspire regular participation and promote the long term benefits to health, social development and overall wellbeing.”

The free Huff 'N' Puff program will have children aged 18 months to 12 years running, jumping, throwing, skipping and climbing their way through a fun-filled program of activities.

Huff ‘N’ Puff will be held on Thursday 6 October at Ian Cowie Reserve, Westcott Parade, Rockbank. Parents can register their child aged 18months – 5years for one of two sessions between 10.30am and 11.30am or 11.30am and 12.30pm. Children aged 5-12 will continue to take part in the traditional two hour Huff 'n' Puff program of rotating through numerous fitness and healthy food stations.

It is anticipated that Huff ‘N’ Puff will be "sold out" so get your registrations in early to avoid disappointment.

The Multi-Sports days will be held in Melton and Caroline Springs and are designed to keep children active and entertained during the school holidays. Multi-Sports days will be held at the Melton Indoor Recreation Centre, Coburns Road on Wednesday 28 September and at the Caroline Springs Leisure Centre, The Parade on Wednesday 5 October from 10am – noon.

Activities at the Multi-Sports days include a variety of preschool and primary school sporting elements such as basketball, kinder gym, an animal farm, table tennis, soccer, scout activities, and arts and crafts. Cost is $3 per child and a parent or guardian must be present to supervise their children at all times. Parents/guardian must register their participation to secure a place.
