Taylors Hill Shopping Village welcomed

The Shire of Melton has received an economic boost with the opening of a new Coles supermarket and a select group of speciality stores at Taylors Hill.

Melton Shire Council Mayor, Cr Justin Mammarella JP, said Council welcomed the establishment of the new businesses in the municipality.

“Council is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our diverse community, to manage our fast growth and to increase business and employment opportunities.

“It is very important that our communities are sustainable and part of that is having neighbourhood facilities and services, including shops.

“Some of the vital ingredients of a vibrant community can only come through the private sector. Although Council is not able to provide these services itself, we are enthusiastic in advocating on behalf of our residents and facilitating pathways for businesses to become an integral part of our vibrant and growing community.”

A Coles supermarket supported by a select group of specialty stores will serve the growing population of the Eastern Growth Corridor and cater for residents’ everyday needs, including a medical centre and a pharmacy.

The new larger store format Coles supermarket at Taylors Hill will be one of the first stores in Australia to include grocery requirements of a full line supermarket and a comprehensive range of general merchandise and MIX fashion apparel, in addition to the expansive fresh produce department with in store butcher, fishmonger and baker.

Cr Mammarella: “The local community has been looking forward to the opening of the shopping centre. The Coles store and the speciality shops together will employ approximately 280 staff on a permanent and casual basis, giving a significant boost to our local employment.”

Melton Shire Council offers a range of services for new and existing businesses including facilitation with other levels of government, training courses, assistance with business plan development and regular newsletters.
